About PEI
Giving hope to people since 2002
A non-governmental, non-profit and non-political organisation, and one of the largest in Pakistan.
Founded by expatriates in 2002. Trusted across Pakistan today.
Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) was established in 2002 by a group of expatriates under the Societies Act XXI of 1860.
Our commitment to eradicating poverty at the grassroots has earned the trust of communities, government and donors. The Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) has certified our systems and rated PEI among the top five NGOs in Pakistan. Most of our work is in health.
Strong operational, programmatic, administrative, HR and financial systems give donors a transparent and efficient link to the poorest people our programs serve.

Public-private partnership, built for scale
Most of our programs bring three partners together, and communities take part in every project.

Our PPP model has been recognised by international partners including the World Bank, ADB, UNICEF and IDA.
Communities

We put the humanitarian agenda first
Humanity
Human suffering must be addressed wherever it is found.
Humanitarian imperative
We act whenever people need help to survive and recover.
Neutrality
We take no sides in political, racial or religious debates.
Impartiality
Help is given on the basis of need alone.
Independence
Our decisions are our own, free of outside agendas.
Accountability
We answer to the people we serve and to those who fund us.
Life with dignity
Every person has the right to live with dignity.
Do no harm
We protect people from harm and reduce their vulnerability.
To raise awareness at all levels regarding poverty eradication and social uplift of the poor by means of sustainable development in Pakistan, to strengthen and build their capacity to fight and overcome poverty, and to assist the Government of Pakistan and other organisations working in Pakistan for the eradication of poverty.
To develop a society based on three core values of sustainable human development: self-esteem, freedom of choice and tolerance; a society where everyone has equal access to opportunities and justice irrespective of gender and status.
How we manage projects
Built on integration with society and the best use of resources, with a strong footprint in both government and the private sector.
Strong systems
Operational, programmatic, administrative, HR and financial systems that link donor funds transparently to the needs of the poorest.
No discrimination
Services for underserved people and communities based on need alone.
Transparent use of resources
Effective use of donor resources and delivery of assistance to the people it is meant for.
Evidence-based health care
Maternal, newborn and child health, communicable and non-communicable disease control, adolescent health, and neglected areas such as fistula prevention and infertility care.
Stronger health systems
Service delivery and capacity in mental health and psychosocial support, rehabilitation care, operational research and innovation, while expanding economic opportunity in under-served communities.
Women's protection and empowerment
Engagement of women, and prevention and handling of gender-based violence and abuse.
